Dogs only do what is useful for their survival at the moment. There is not such thing like good and bad behaviour.
As a dog owner I hear very often sentences such as “my dog is extremely stubborn” , “my dog is too old to learn”, “My dog wants to dominate me” or “She will not do it.She is a princess”
This is called anthropomorphism and is the attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals.
The basic mistake we make every day is labelling our dogs.It affects our view of everything our pets do and how we react.
Stubborn
It seems like your dog knows what you want and still ignores you. More often than not, they either do not have idea what you want them to do so they are sitting and hoping you will explain them or go away.
Dominant
Dogs dont assert dominance over each other as a natural behaviour.Dogs that walk in front of you, pee in the house or growl at you over food are not trying to dominate you.
Age and learning capacity
Some adult dogs might learn more slowly, it’s never too late to teach an older dog to listen and obey. it’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks.

Remember that labels sticks in our heads and are hard to remove.Through labelling we can ruin dog capacity to trust us.
